Sayashtakam — A Devotional Soulful Translation
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — the wondrous manifestation of Brahma the Creator, Vishnu the Sustainer, and Shiva the Transformer; the sacred Datta form who descended upon this earth, the celestial wish-fulfilling Kalpavriksha for all Your loving devotees. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — whose divine form was first beheld by blessed Mahalsapathy, who showered miracles upon this world for the upliftment of suffering hearts, who dwelt in the holy Dwarakamai, turning that humble mosque into a shrine of compassion. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — who assumed a simple human form clothed in the kafni, who radiated boundless mercy and drove away the epidemic of cholera, who like the divine Kamadhenu grants every righteous wish of Your devotees. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — who turned the grinding stone with Your own sacred hands, scattering the flour to dispel calamities, and removing diseases and sorrows that tormented Your children. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — who lit the eternal Dhuni of compassion, burning away the heavy karmas that bound Your devotees, and distributing the sacred Udi, the fragrant ash of miracles and grace. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — who lit lamps using mere water, revealing that Divine Will transcends all laws, who dispelled the inner darkness from the minds of the faithful, and shone as the radiant Atma-Linga within. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — who explained the essence of the Gita, who rewrote the destiny-lines of the humble and the distressed, and who stands as the true Moulder of Fate for all who surrender. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
Salutations to Thee, O Sadguru Sainath — the eternal, effulgent God for all who trust in You, the One worshipped with the four sacred Aratis, the Divine Guru who forever shines in the hearts of Your children. To that Lord Sainath, I bow in reverence.
The Blessing of Sayashtakam. Whoever recites this holy Sayashtakam in the serene presence of Sai acquires the blessed realm of Sai and rejoices eternally in the company of Sri Sainath. **May the rays of Sai’s compassion shine upon all beings. May everyone be blessed. Om Sai, Sri Sai, Jaya Jaya Sai!** 🙏✨
Śrī Sai Aṣṭakam (To be sung in the Lingāṣṭakam tune) Brahma and Vishnu, Shiva wondrous in form, Datta incarnate who walked on this earth, Wish-granting Tree to the hearts of devotees, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Seen first by Mahalsapati blessed and pure, Revealing His glory through miracles vast, Shining resplendent in Dwarakamayi, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Clad in His kafni, appearing as man, Compassion incarnate who cured deadly plague, Granting the wishes of hearts that surrender, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Turning the grinding wheel, spinning in play, Scattering wheat with a purpose divine, Removing all illness and sorrow of life, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Lighting the sacred Dhuni with infinite grace, Burning our karmas to ashes unseen, Sharing the holy Udi through leelas divine, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Showing bright light even through simple water, Chasing the darkness from hearts and from minds, Shining forever as Ātma-Liṅga, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Explaining the Gītā in words full of truth, Turning the cries of the poor into prayer, Standing as Gītā embodied Himself, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Pure Consciousness to those who trust in His name, Praised in the four sacred āratis each day, Shining eternally as the True Guru, I bow to Sai Nātha, the holy Sadguru. Phala Śruti (To be chanted at the end) This sacred Sai Aṣṭakam, holy and pure, Whoever chants it before Sai with faith, Attains Sai’s world and rejoices with Him, Forever united with Śrī Sai Nātha.
