The Theatre (Inner) Lamp.
Sri Sainathayanamah!
May the lights of the New Year remind us of our inner journey —
a movement from ignorance to awareness, from shadow to radiance.
Swamy Vidyaranya, in his Panchadashi, likens life to an ancient theater:
A bright lamp illuminates the stage,
the king watches, dancers sway, musicians play,
and the audience rejoices — yet all is visible only because of the lamp.
When the show ends, the lamp continues to shine.
Vedanta says the same drama unfolds within us:
The King is the ego — the sense of “I am the doer.”
The Dancer is the intellect — constantly moving, deciding, reacting.
The Musicians are the senses — eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and touch — feeding impressions.
The Audience is worldly experiences and desires that engage the mind.
And the Lamp is the Witness, the silent, unwavering Self, the eternal presence of God.
The Witness is always there, quietly observing, untouched by the drama on stage.
It does not interfere, does not judge, and does not depend on anything in the play.
Even when thoughts overwhelm, emotions surge, or life’s scenes whirl around us,
the Witness remains calm, steady, and luminous.
Even in deep sleep, when ego and senses rest, that inner Awareness continues, shining silently.
Just as a performance would be meaningless without the lamp,
life loses its direction when we forget this inner Light.
May the lights of New Year, Foot Steps of Saibaba remind us to:
Remove inner darkness
Refine our actions
Turn attention inward, toward joy, clarity, and God-centered living.
May Shirdi Sai Baba’s compassionate grace shine upon all.May everyone be blessed.
Om Sai, Sri Sai, Jai Jai Sai.
The above post in melodious song format:
🌟 “Lamp of the Heart” — Bhajan style
Suggested feel:
Rāga: Yaman (bright, devotional)
Tāla: Keherwa (8-beat) or Dadra (6-beat, softer)
Tempo: Medium, flowing
🎵 Chorus (Refrain)
(Call)
May the lights of the New Year shine within…
(Response)
From shadow to radiance — awaken us again.
(Call)
Footsteps of Sai, gently lead the way,
(Response)
Into the lamp of the heart, where Love forever stays.
🎶 Verse 1 — The Theater of Life
A single lamp upon the stage, the drama starts to play,
The king observes, the dancers move, the music flows away.
The audience laughs, the scenes unfold — joy, sorrow, night, and day,
Yet when the curtain falls at last… the lamp alone remains.
🎶 Verse 2 — The Inner Meaning
The King is ego — whispering, “I alone decide.”
The Dancer, our intellect — restless waves inside.
The Musicians are the senses — colors, sound, and taste,
The Audience, all desires — running in haste.
But deep within, beyond all roles we see,
Shines the Witness Self — silent, calm, and free.
🎶 Chorus (repeat)
May the lights of the New Year shine within…
From shadow to radiance — awaken us again.
Footsteps of Sai, gently lead the way,
Into the lamp of the heart, where Love forever stays.
🎶 Verse 3 — The Witness
When thoughts grow loud, when storms arise,
When tears fall quietly from the eyes,
The Witness watches — pure and bright,
Untouched, unwavering, bathed in light.
Even in deep sleep, when all seems gone,
Awareness keeps softly shining on.
🎶 Bridge (Soft prayer)
Remove the darkness, Lord —
Refine each word and deed;
Turn our gaze inward,
To the joy our souls truly need.
🎶 Final Chorus (build, then soften)
Let the New Year’s light awaken every heart,
From ignorance to wisdom — a brand-new start.
With Sai beside us, we walk the sacred way…
In clarity, compassion, and God-centered living — every day.
(End gently on a sustained note.)
Here is a beautiful call-and-response keertan version (easy for a satsang group, temple, or bhajan circle).
Short, repeatable lines, with natural pauses so the group can echo — and it stays rooted in your original meaning.

Add clap pattern (Keherwa) once people learn the refrain.
Keep the chorus returning — it anchors the group beautifully.
